New
TLD Registrations
On
16th November 2000 ICANN, the organization responsible for assigning
new domain names on the Internet, announced seven new domain
names that are to be made available early 2001.
The
new names are:
| .aero |
| .biz
|
| .coop
|
| .info
|
| .museum
|
| .name
|
| .pro
|
Of
these new domains .biz, .info, .name and .pro are to be made
available to the general public for registrations. The other
names will have particular requirements for registration. For
example, to register a domain under the .museum namespace you
will have to show that you are a recognized museum.
The
.biz domain name
This domain name is intended for for business use. Any individual
or organization is able to register a name directly under the
.biz namespace, eg: yourname.biz
The
.info domain name
Any individual or organization is able to register a name directly
under the .info namespace, eg: yourname.info.
The
.info namespace is intended to widen the range of generic domains
available on the Internet.
The
.name domain name
This domain name is intended to give individuals the opportunity
to have their own domain name on the Internet. Traditionally,
all Internet domains have been intended for business or commercial
use. Domains under the .name namespace take the form of firstname.lastname.name
The
.pro domain name
This domain is intended for organizations or individuals in
a particular profession. Initially the following domain names
will be available under the .pro namespace: yourname.med.pro,
yourname.law.pro and yourname.cpa.pro.

Opportunity
for pre-registrations
There
is expected to be a huge demand for the above domain names when
the new registries start accepting registrations.
In
order to help users get the name they want, Papavero is offering
a pre-registration service that will automatically submit registration
requests as soon as the new registries go live.
The
pre-registration service will start registering names the minute
the new registries start accepting registrations.
Although
it is impossible to guarantee that a particular registration
will be successful, our pre-registration service offers you
an excellent opportunity to get the domain name you want.
How
to pre-register
The pricing for the new domain names will be £25 per one year
registration.
Our
pre-registration service costs just £12.50 per domain name.
Assuming your registration is successful you will be charged
the balance of £12.50 after your domain name has been
confirmed as registered.
Please
note that in the event your domain name is not registered for
any reason no refund is available on the £12.50 pre-registration
fee. This fee is intended to cover our costs in developing and
implementing the pre-registration service. For this reason,
using the pre-registration system should be seen as a speculative
opportunity and you should not rely upon your registration being
successful. To request a pre-register of a domain name please
contact us.
